    27-Nov-2025: Baby Cheetah Cam

Four cheetah cubs sleeping with their mother and it may be possible to die from this much cuteness.

In October, four cheetah cubs were born at the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute in Front Royal, Virginia. These cubs are being raised with minimal human interference to allow them to properly bond with their mother. They have two dens in which to sleep and eat and do some play. And a cam is on each den for behavioural research purposes, and you can watch!

Some things to note. It can take a few minutes for the feeds to load, so be patient. There are also two dens to tab between. During the day, the dens tend to be empty. But once the cheetahs arrive, prepare to die from cuteness!

26-Nov-2025: The Keeper of the Remote

Porthos is a cat who hasn’t met something that he doesn’t love to use a chin rest. Last night, he decided to get nice and cozy with the remote control. He’s purrrrfect.

    20-Nov-2025: Lap Dog

Archer thinks he’s a lap dog. He’s too big for my lap but that doesn’t stop him. As I type this up on my phone, this is what’s going on. Archer yet again forced me to let him curl up in my lap. He pushed his way under one leg before curling up on the other. Now I’m trapped in a butterfly stretch to accommodate him.

    18-Nov-2025: Ziggy’s Nose

I love looking over to see a dog’s nose poking out from under a blanket. How I get anything done while being surrounded by cuteness is a mystery. The nose in question belongs to Ziggy.

    15-Nov-2025: Baby Porthos

Thanks to OneDrive, I was reminded that 10 years ago today was Meet Porthos for the First Time Day. Look at this little fuzz ball! He is six weeks old in this image. It would be another four weeks before we could bring him home.

    14-Nov-2025: The Cat Den

I have a lap desk that, whenever I’m not using it and I put it beside me on the couch, Porthos likes to sleep under it. His cat snores make it even better.

    12-Nov-2025: Archer the Sucky Baby

Every single night, for the hour before doggy dinner time, Archer nurses on a blanket. No, he wasn’t weaned early. It’s just a thing he’s been doing for his entire life to self-soothe. Sound on for Ziggy tippy-tapping in the background and Archer whining as he sucks.

    10-Nov-2025: God’s Junk Drawer

I pre-ordered God’s Junk Drawer: A Novel by Peter Clines many many, so many, months ago after Clines spent days posting sentences on Bluesky. People would give him a page number, and he would post some WILD event. Some of them positively UNHINGED in the best possible way. And today, it arrived! One day early!

    08-Nov-2025: These Lovebugs

There are few things happier than cats and dogs sleeping together.

Their eyes are somewhat open because I disturbed them coming close to take the picture. Yes, the back of the couch also has an abundance of soft blankets waiting to be used.
